K Rouse Civil Engineers Ltd are providing plant and labour to Taylor Woodrow for the Northumberland Street upgrade works in Newcastle City Centre.

Northumberland Street Transformation: The project includes installing new high-quality paving, modern lighting, and, seating. Due to underground high-voltage cables, extensive manual excavation and, in some areas, specialised, precise, robotic drilling technology from Baubot are being used.

Project Timeline: Work began in late 2023, with major completion expected in April 2026, including landscaping.

Community Engagement: In May 2025, Taylor Woodrow partnered with local schools and Newcastle College to bury a time capsule on Northumberland Street, scheduled to be opened in 2075.

Innovations: The team has used innovative methods, including trials of a Baubot mobile robotic system to safely drill around sensitive infrastructure.
